Available Adult Afghan Hounds

From time to time I will have adult Afghan Hounds available to approved homes. These will usually be retired dogs that I feel would benefit from being in a home where they are the center of attention, rather than in a house with a large pack such as mine. Older dogs especially benefit from a quieter home, and it is with their best interest in mind that I may list the occasional dog here.

In even rarer circumstances, I may list a dog that I have taken in as a rescue/foster situation. Why a dog is listed on this page will be made abundantly clear, along with any information I feel a potential adopter would need to know, unless there is a sensitive situation involving the previous owner that may require some details to be explained privately.

If you have any questions, please reach out to me! And if there are no adults listed here but you would like an adult, still feel free to contact me. I may know of one that needs a home!

Each adopted adult will come with a recent veterinary exam, be fully vaccinated, and spayed/neutered. They will also come with a bag of their current food to get you started, or to give you a chance to slowly transition them to a different diet if you prefer. They will also come with a brand new still-in-the-box force dryer to help you keep them groomed, if the adopter does not already have a dryer. The ability to keep them groomed is important, and I want to help facilitate that in any way that I can, so a force dryer is just a step in that direction.

Our old girl Farah is being made available to a retirement home where she can enjoy the peace of being the only dog OR only sharing the home with ONE other dog. She likes cats and gets along very well with them, but will sometimes play chase if they entice her too much. She gets along with dogs too, but in the home they provide more of a nuisance these days than they did when she was younger. With that said, she does tend to attach herself to a single dog, so a home with one SMALL dog should be fine (she gets more annoyed by the bigger ones). She was born March 6th, 2017.

Despite her age, she still acts like a puppy! Forever young at heart, she is an absolute clown. She is confident and has that signature Afghan Hound streak of independence and strong-headedness, but she is an absolute joy. She can be viewed on the Afghan Hound Pedigree Database here.

She is remarkably healthy with no chronic issues to speak of. She will be released to an approved home only, and a contract will need to be signed. There is an adoption fee of $900. She will be spayed prior to leaving my home.

To inquire about Farah, text 843-666-4981 anytime and I will reach back out asap.

Blueberry is a very difficult girl to let go to a retirement home, but she deserves much more one-on-one attention. She is reserved until she gets to know someone; I suppose relatively typical of the breed. Once settled, she will not like strangers coming into your home so if you have a lot of guests she may not be a good fit. She is fiercely protective of her family. She loves other dogs as long as they know how to respect boundaries when she has had enough play. She was born March 7th, 2020.

She can be viewed on the Afghan Hound Pedigree Database here. If you would like to see our page chronicling her participation in sporting events and conformation shows click here.

She is very healthy with no chronic issues whatsoever. She has a minor internal eye abnormality that was detected by our canine ophthalmologist, but it causes no issues with normal eye function or vision.

She will be released to an approved home only, and a contract will need to be signed. There is an adoption fee of $900. She will be spayed prior to leaving my home.

Omen was born March 7th, 2020. He was the only male in his litter and I almost kept him, but a home presented itself that was absolutely perfect so I let him go. He loved his new owner and she loved him. After a couple of years the living situation had changed and he came back to me.

Omen is a special boy and will require a special home. If one is not found, he will just live with me for the rest of his life - and I would consider myself lucky. He's a good boy. But this good boy does have some issues, and will require a patient owner who does not have children. He is best as an only dog. This is because he REALLY loves other dogs and doesn't have an off button, which usually causes the other dog to get upset. He responds best to calm verbal correction. More details are available to anyone who is interested in him, pending approval to adopt him. He has no health concerns that I am aware of.

He will be released to an approved home only, and a contract will need to be signed. He will be neutered prior to leaving my home. There is an adoption fee of $900. I am very selective with whom any of my dogs go to, but I am using even more discretion with him. If you are inquire but are denied, please don't take it personally.
